Just returned from the I/ITSEC show in Orlando. This show features the best manufacturers of military training simulators. The number of training simulators on display is overwhelming. After a while, you have to take a break from the demos, especially when you crash fighter jets and helicopters as well as I do. It was good to meet with customers we have long relationships with, and to meet some wonderful people who we hope to do business with in the future.
Many of the training simulator companies that we do not currently do business gave me the same feedback. These companies are providing either no haptic feedback, or they are using cheap shakers. They told me that their customers are wanting to either include large-scale haptic feedback, or to move up from the shakers to something much more precise. Their customers are recognizing that spending large dollars on trainers without adequate experience simulation built in is not getting them the complete version of reality that they want for pilot and soldier training. When I explained how inexpensive it is to use Clark Synthesis Tactile Sound Transducers for haptic feedback, they wanted to know more.
